SpongeBob Theme Song and Show Information
By Patrick Star

One of the most popular shows today on Nickelodeon is SpongeBob SquarePants. It is the story of a sponge who lives in a pineapple house next to his grouchy neighbor Squidward and best friend Patrick Star. Spongebob was created by Stephen Hillenburg and debuted in 1999.

Just in case you don't know it, here is the SpongeBob SquarePants theme song.

  • Are you ready kids?
  • Aye aye captain!
  • I can't hear you!
  • AYE AYE CAPTAIN!!!
  • Ohhhhhhh!
  • Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
  • Spongebob Squarepants!
  • Absorbent and yellow and porous is he!
  • Spongebob Squarepants!
  • If nautical nonsense be something you wish!
  • Spongebob Squarepants!
  • Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish!
  • Spongebob Squarepants!
  • Ready?
  • Spongebob Squarepants
  • Spongebob Squarepants
  • Spongebob Squarepants
  • Spongebob..Squarepants
  • Ahhha, ha, ha!

Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob Squarepants, was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma in August of 1961 and went to Savanna High school. After that, he went to Humboldt State University and got a degree in natural resource planning and interpretation and also one in marine biology. After graduation, he worked at the Orange County Marine Institute teaching Marine Biology. A few years later he went to the California institute of Fine Arts and got a Master of Fine Arts degree in animation. He started making short films and even won some awards. He met Joe Murry, creator of Rocko's Modern Life, at a film festival and became the director of Rocko's Modern Life. When the show ended in 1996 he began make comic books about a sea sponge which eventually became a normal square sponge.

Working with some of the people he had on Rocko's Modern Life, he created a cartoon and sent a pilot to Nickelodeon. They loved it and SpongeBob SquarePants debuted in 1999 right after the Kids Choice Awards and has been on the air every since.
